They Broke Me, Now They Beg

Shira is beaten and accused of stealing from Evelyn. Evelyn's family arrives to take her back for a birthday party. Shira refuses to get in the car and walks toward the house that stopped being her home long ago.

Shira returns home injured. Her mother serves a strawberry dessert, forgetting Shira has been allergic since childhood. Her father and Evelyn belittle her wounds as self-inflicted. Shira finally asks whether sending her away was really an act of love.

Evelyn jumps into the pool herself but accuses Shira of trying to kill her. Damon threatens to send Shira back to detention. Under pressure from the family, Shira is forced to apologize to Evelyn.

Shira refuses Damon's gift, saying she doesn't deserve it. Damon and Evelyn mock her for finally knowing her place. Moments later, Shira is cornered by attackers who claim someone paid good money to have her killed. Lucy arrives to announce the banquet is starting and brings her a dress.

Shira arrives at the banquet without a gown and is scolded by Damon. Guests mock her as the fake daughter and order her to serve wine until Lucy intervenes. Shira tells Lucy she no longer loves Damon and refuses to marry him, unaware that Damon overhears.

Damon confronts Shira over her sudden distance. Lucy defends Shira, reminding Damon that the moon goddess chose her as his mate. Evelyn publicly admits she used dark magic to switch their scents long ago, leading Damon to declare Evelyn his true mate. Shira refuses to stay and walks away.

Shira refuses to let Lucy turn against Damon for her sake. Evelyn is warned that releasing her wolf soul will expose her, but she claims someone has arrived to solve the problem. Shira confronts Evelyn, who admits she orchestrated the torture in detention and vows to let Shira's family finish the job.

Evelyn claims she only wanted to apologize to Shira, but Shira pushed her from the balcony. The crowd believes Shira acted out of revenge. Damon's father invokes pack law and orders a public whipping, while Lucy urges Shira to speak before the punishment kills her.

Shira refuses to confess, and the pack sentences her to have her wolf soul stripped. Lucy protests, but Shira reveals her wolf soul was already shattered in detention. Damon's father orders the punishment to proceed, and when the whip falls, no wolf soul is found.
