After Graduation, I Married a Sleeping Beauty

Needing money for his ailing father, fresh graduate Lin Yichen advertises himself for marriage at a park matchmaking corner, but is turned away by one woman for having no job, house or savings. Dong Wenli then approaches him, asking if he would consider a temporary marriage and discussing payment, setting up an unusual arrangement.

Dong Wenli tells Lin Yichen that her gravely ill sister Wei Shuhan has only a month to live and asks him to marry her in a simple lucky-marriage ceremony. When he hesitates over the low pay, she raises the offer to 500,000, promising another 5,000,000 if Wei Shuhan survives three months. Lin finally agrees.

Dong Wenli has Lin Yichen fitted for a new suit, photographed, and registered at the house, telling him the marriage certificate has already arrived. Wei Shuhan remains unconscious and cannot attend, so Lin accepts the documents on her behalf. Holding the certificate, he realizes he has become legally married to a woman he has never actually met.

Dong Wenli has Lin Yichen pose for wedding photos with the still-comatose Wei Shuhan, his hand cold against hers through the ceremony. Afterward 500,000 yuan arrives, confirming their legal marriage, and Dong offers him free use of Wei Shuhan's luxury cars.

Lin Yichen quietly uses money to pay for his father's treatment, telling his mother it came from a business venture with his friend Xingzi, while secretly driving the luxury car that actually belongs to his comatose wife Wei Shuhan. Xingzi borrows the car to save face in front of the wealthy Young Master Xu, as a recruitment drive at Shuhan International is set for the next day.

Doctors warn that Wei Shuhan's will to live is fading, giving her only two weeks, and urge Lin Yichen to spend more time at her side. He formally introduces himself, brings skincare lotion and bananas he grew himself, promising to take her picking them once she wakes. Just then, her monitor flags unusual brain activity.

Lin Yichen's attentive care visibly strengthens Wei Shuhan's heartbeat, astonishing the doctor, who urges him to keep talking with her. Xingzi reminds Lin of his parents' situation and pushes him to find work. Lin heads to a job interview and is hired on the spot by the tech department, starting the next day.

Lin Yichen passes his interview and is hired, with orders to report the next day alongside his friend. Dong Wenli tells him his devoted care has visibly boosted Wei Shuhan's cell activity, meaning she could wake soon, and arranges a hotel suite near the office for him. She also urges him to grow bolder with Shuhan.

A nurse tells Lin Yichen that test results show Wei Shuhan reacts strongly to his touch, and urges him to give her a full body massage that might help her wake. Uneasy about touching his unconscious wife without her consent, Lin hesitates but ultimately decides to try, quietly apologizing to her before he begins.

After Lin Yichen massages Wei Shuhan, the doctor is surprised to find her adrenaline and cell activity rising sharply, a sign of improvement. The doctor then asks Lin to take charge of her ongoing care, including wiping her body and changing her clothes, leaving him stunned.

The doctor reveals that Wei Shuhan responds only to Lin Yichen's care, and he agrees to keep looking after her. Treated to an unexpected stay at a luxury hotel with his friend Xingzi, Lin also learns from Dong Wenli that Wei Shuhan's sister is returning from abroad, setting up their coming meeting.

Ruyan arrives with men and confronts Lin Yichen at Wei Shuhan's bedside, demanding to know his relationship with her and threatening violence. Lin insists he is her husband and refuses to let the comatose Wei Shuhan be harmed, offering himself in her place instead.

Lin Yichen checks on Wei Shuhan and asks about the woman who barged into her room before rushing off to work. At the company, he and his cousin Xiaoqiang marvel at the executive office, until Dong Wenli unexpectedly summons Lin, leaving him uneasy about what she wants.

Dong Wenli convenes a meeting after the technical team's poor performance, and Manager Yang pressures Lin Yichen while lobbying colleagues for the vacant executive assistant post. Lin modestly steps aside, claiming he is too new, but Dong Wenli stuns the office by naming him the new assistant instead.

Dong Wenli confirms Lin Yichen's three-day trial as executive assistant, while Gu Ruoxue hands over partner files and Manager Yang issues a veiled warning. Soon after, Lin is called to the hospital, where he learns he must also take on day-to-day care of Wei Shuhan.

Nervous about his new caregiving duties, Lin Yichen watches as a routine exam reveals Wei Shuhan's heartbeat is abnormally fast. Word spreads that an ordinary graduate has somehow improved her condition, prompting someone to arrange a face-to-face meeting between them.

Dr. Sun Qiming examines Wei Shuhan and notes her strengthening heartbeat, curious how Lin Yichen achieved such progress. Lin explains he simply spends time caring for her, earning the doctor's praise and an offer of future help. A late-night call then reveals his father's medical funds are gone and he has collapsed from shock.

Lin Yichen returns home to find his father beaten by loan sharks who stormed in while his parents were at the hospital. They seized household belongings and inflated a 200,000 yuan loan into a two-million-yuan debt. Desperate to confront them, Lin is held back by his mother and instead calls Ruyan for help.

A loan shark boss has inflated Lin Yichen's parents' 200,000-yuan debt into two million and turned violent. Lin arrives and confronts the gang face to face, as they demand repayment or threaten to break a leg, leaving the standoff dangerously unresolved.

Lin Yichen wins back his parents' stolen loan money and rushes his father to the hospital. Doctors reveal the father has a malignant tumor compounded by new trauma, giving him only a twenty percent chance of surviving surgery, and say only Dr. Sun Qiming could manage it. With Sun unreachable, Lin reveals he has a way to contact him.

Dr. Sun Qiming arrives in time to operate on Lin Yichen's father, and the surgery succeeds, relieving the whole family. Lin calls Dong Wenli to thank her and learns the help was repayment for his care of Wei Shuhan. Before hanging up, he asks Dong about Wei Shuhan's hobbies, then heads to her room to visit her.

Lin Yichen thanks Wei Shuhan for indirectly saving his father through Dr. Sun's surgery. Learning she loves night drives, he takes her out to feel the night air, calling it their first real date. He tenderly calls her wife and begs her to wake up soon.

A nurse reminds Lin Yichen that Wei Shuhan needs daily cleaning, so he takes on the task himself. He gently wipes her body and changes her clothes, softly calling her wife throughout, showing quiet devotion to his comatose bride.

Lin Yichen keeps bathing and dressing the comatose Wei Shuhan, quietly telling her he wants to be her caregiver forever. Dr. Sun, short on staff, hands Wei's recovery training to Lin, who accepts as her devoted husband. That night her monitor spikes, and she slowly opens her eyes.

Wei Shuhan quietly regains consciousness but tells those around her to keep it from Lin Yichen for now. Meanwhile, Dong Wenli sends newly appointed executive assistant Lin Yichen and manager Gu Ruoxue to finalize a contract with a partner firm, and Lin discovers the company is tied to Young Master Xu's family.

Lin Yichen and Gu Ruoxue arrive at the partner company to finalize the contract, but are mistaken for cleaning staff. Young Master Xu shows up and dismissively orders them to clear the way for his own business guest, leaving the pair humiliated at the signing site.

At the contract signing, Lin Yichen's true identity as Shuhan International's new executive assistant is revealed, stunning Young Master Xu, who had dismissed him earlier. Lin points out the partner company's years of losses, forcing Xu to offer a steep price to secure the deal, flipping the balance of power.

After his negotiation success, shareholders confirm Lin Yichen's promotion to executive assistant, and colleagues congratulate him on the spot. The celebration is cut short when Dong Wenli calls urgently, insisting he rush to the hospital over Wei Shuhan's condition.

Dong Wenli tells Lin Yichen that Wei Shuhan's test results are normal and she may wake within a week, transferring the promised five million yuan. She offers a villa under Shuhan's name for his parents, but Lin declines. Dong then reveals Shuhan's condition and warns that her first act upon waking could be asking for a divorce.

After Dong Wenli leaves, Lin Yichen stays alone with the still unconscious Wei Shuhan, performing rehabilitation exercises as Dr. Sun instructed. Caring for her, he talks to himself, wondering if her earlier reactions meant she liked him, then dismisses the thought since she remains in a coma. He then continues with further rehabilitation exercises as directed.

After finishing Wei Shuhan's rehabilitation exercises, Lin Yichen says goodbye for the day. He then moves into a large villa with his mother, borrowed from a friend under the pretense of house-sitting, where a man addresses him respectfully and offers to carry his luggage, hinting at a hidden connection.

Settling into the villa with his mother, Lin Yichen watches her recoil as the housekeeper reveals that ordinary items like a woven bag, hairpin, and tea are worth small fortunes. After calming his parents, he heads upstairs alone, while someone remarks on how extravagant the villa linked to Dong Wenli really is.

Lin Yichen is startled to find Wei Shuhan's sister Ruyan inside the villa, who reveals she has a key and arranged for it to be cleaned. He urges her to wait upstairs for proper clothes before meeting his parents, but she heads down anyway. His parents mistake her for his girlfriend, leaving him flustered.

Lin Yichen's parents show up unannounced and find women's belongings in his room, assuming he has a girlfriend. Ruyan reveals he is actually married to Wei Shuhan, leaving his parents stunned but delighted. They insist on meeting their daughter-in-law right away, so Lin Yichen agrees to take his mother to see her that same day.

After waking, Wei Shuhan still refuses to reveal the truth to Lin Yichen, choosing to watch his character unfold before deciding. When Lin arrives with his mother to visit his wife, the caretakers stall them with an excuse about a checkup, buying time to keep up the ruse.

Lin Yichen brings his mother to visit the still-comatose Wei Shuhan. Rather than judging her illness, his mother recalls how Lin's father was once bedridden for years and insists love matters more than circumstance. She gives Wei Shuhan a welcome gift and reminds Lin to air the room and wash his wife's clothes properly.

Lin Yichen's uncle calls to say he's coming to visit, and Lin suspects the man is scheming for Wei Shuhan's villa. He keeps caring for the still-comatose Wei Shuhan, washing her clothes and promising his parents will treat her like their own daughter. Meanwhile Dong Wenli arranges gifts for Lin's parents and sends Gu Ruoxue to the villa.

Lin Yichen's uncle and cousin Song Xiaoqiang show up uninvited, mocking the rented villa and claiming their own home is better. Xiaoqiang, newly hired at Ronghua Group, asks to stay there to impress his girlfriend, but Lin Yichen refuses outright, leading to a heated exchange of insults.

Lin Yichen's uncle and cousin Song Xiaoqiang visit again, mocking him, until a gift arranged by Wei Shuhan arrives: a coat mistaken for a cleaning uniform turns out to be worth a fortune. Moments later, company assistant Gu Ruoxue shows up delivering documents and addresses Lin Yichen with a formal title, leaving the boastful Xiaoqiang stunned.

Lin Yichen's uncle and cousin discover he is now an executive assistant at Suhan International and immediately try to guilt him into getting Song Xiaoqiang a job. While the uncle accuses Lin of ingratitude, the boastful Xiaoqiang is suddenly confronted over an unpaid debt, deflating his bravado.

Lin Yichen visits his parents, who praise Wei Shuhan's generous gift and thoughtfulness, while scolding him for never giving her a proper wedding. They're thrilled to learn he's been promoted to executive assistant to the president. Afterward, Lin takes Wei Shuhan to a special outdoor spot to enjoy the breeze together.

Having learned from Dong Wenli that Wei Shuhan's birthday is near, Lin Yichen quietly arranges a birthday celebration with fireworks and makes a wish that they can stay together. Though still comatose, Wei Shuhan is moved, reflecting that no one has ever celebrated her birthday before.

Wei Shuhan finally decides to accept Lin Yichen's love, but asks Dong Wenli to keep it secret so she can keep pretending to be comatose a little longer. Unaware of her awakening, Lin tenderly bids her goodbye before work, while Wei Shuhan quietly arranges for makeup and clothes, hinting at a plan of her own.

Lin Yichen visits the hospital room, unaware that Dong Wenli has bathed and dressed Wei Shuhan, and that their wedding photo has been quietly hidden for secrecy. He brings flowers and admires her new outfit, still believing she remains asleep, hoping for the day she wakes.

Lin Yichen visits the hospital again, tucking in the blanket and massaging Wei Shuhan's arm when she shows no reaction. He jokes that she might be planning to divorce him, then gently wishes her a full recovery before heading back to the company, promising to return in the evening.

At a company meeting, Dong Wenli tells staff that Wei Shuhan will soon return to lead the group and asks everyone to cooperate with her. Lin Yichen then arrives at the hospital with a carefully chosen gift, calling out to his still comatose wife in hopes she will respond.

Lin Yichen rushes to the hospital only to learn Wei Shuhan has already woken up and quietly checked herself out, leaving him no word at all and feeling as if their marriage was only a dream. He later finds her at the company, now presiding as its president, and formally introduces himself to her.

At the office, Lin Yichen finds Wei Shuhan now acting purely as company president, scolding him like any ordinary assistant and never acknowledging their marriage. Dong Wenli explains she quietly removed their wedding photos before Shuhan woke, fearing she could not accept the truth. Meanwhile, Manager Yang mocks Lin now that Dong Wenli has stepped back, threatening to take his assistant position.

Manager Yang and a colleague accuse Lin Yichen of slacking off through connections, hoping to turn President Wei Shuhan against him. Shuhan sees through the scheme and points out Yang's own absenteeism record instead. When he keeps blaming Dong Wenli's hiring and an alleged accomplice, she abruptly tells Yang and his group not to return to work.

Wei Shuhan shuts down accusations that favoring Lin Yichen breaks company rules, warning Gu Ruoxue not to let it happen again. She then rewards the office with hotel meal boxes, and when Lin skips the pickup, she personally brings him a lobster dinner, quietly showing how much she cares.

Gu Ruoxue shows up with suggestive comments about Lin Yichen's diet and physique. Back at work, Wei Shuhan, citing months of unreviewed documents, abruptly orders Lin's workstation moved directly into her executive office, catching him off guard and visibly reluctant.

Lin Yichen's desk is moved into Wei Shuhan's executive office, and coworkers tease him about their relationship, noting she even sends him meals. He brushes off the gossip calmly. Later, while reviewing documents together, Wei Shuhan catches him staring at her, leaving him to stammer an explanation.

After hours, Wei Shuhan invents a nonexistent assistant handbook rule to keep Lin Yichen from leaving. She orders him to drive her home in the Lamborghini gifted by Dong Wenli, then teasingly refuses to tell him her address, deepening the tension between them.

Wei Shuhan quizzes Lin Yichen on whether he knows her home address, calling it basic assistant knowledge, yet still won't reveal the way. Once home, she orders him to carry items from the car's front trunk upstairs while she heads straight to her room. Carrying the load, Lin grows visibly distracted, and she catches him looking lost in thought.

Wei Shuhan notices Lin Yichen acting distracted while carrying her things upstairs, and he brushes off her questions. Later, drinking with his best friend Xingzi, Lin vents about his marriage and accidentally reveals his wife is Wei, the company boss, leaving Xingzi utterly stunned.

Xingzi is stunned to learn Lin's wife is actually company president Wei Shuhan, and the two puzzle over her recent attentions, like personally delivering noodles and moving his desk, even as she keeps pretending not to know him. Xingzi suggests using a private signal only the couple shares to jog her memory. Lin recalls one and rushes off, using exercise rehab time as his cue.

During rehab time, Lin Yichen calls Wei Shuhan wife, using their private signal from before. She presses him to repeat what he said, but he brushes it off. Unfazed, she instead orders him to attend her friend's wedding in her place as her assistant.

Following Wei Shuhan's orders, Lin Yichen arrives early at a friend's wedding, posing as her assistant. There he meets Dong Wenli, who thanks him for helping Wei Shuhan recover. A guest's slip of calling her mother stuns everyone, hinting Dong Wenli has a hidden family tie.

Lin Yichen asks Dong Wenli who the bride and groom are, learning only that the groom has arrived and the bride is being made up backstage. Ruyan, Sun Qiming, Gu Ruoxue, and Xingzi arrive one after another to congratulate him, and soon the whole company shows up as well. Bewildered, he has no idea why this wedding seems to center on him.

Lin Yichen's parents arrive at the ceremony and learn, to their surprise, that Wei Shuhan has already woken up and quietly arranged the wedding without telling them. Pushed onto the stage, Wei Shuhan smiles and confirms she recognizes Lin Yichen, revealing that the wedding is the surprise she prepared for her husband.

The ceremony continues as the officiant leads Lin Yichen and Wei Shuhan through their vows. Both solemnly declare their commitment, promising to stand by each other through hardship and illness. Guests cheer and the newlyweds pose for photos, completing the wedding.

After the wedding, Lin Yichen and Wei Shuhan settle into married life, and her sister Ruyan comes to meet them warmly. But late that night Wei Shuhan is suddenly struck by severe pain and loses clarity, leaving Lin Yichen alarmed as their fragile happiness is overshadowed by fear of a relapse.
