The Scapegoat Best Friend

Zhang Ya, framed and killed by her best friend Su Xia in her past life, is reborn on the very day Su Xia meets her lover Liu Feng. Remembering everything, she vows to turn the tables and stop being the scapegoat.

Su Xia begs Zhang Ya to cover for her, claiming her husband is violent. Recalling how this exact lie led to her public humiliation in her past life, Zhang Ya goes along with it outwardly. When Jiang Yi demands to speak to Su Xia, Zhang Ya handles him calmly while silently vowing to make Su Xia face the consequences herself.

At the bar, Zhang Ya recalls how Su Xia repeatedly used her as cover — first to hide an abortion with Liu Feng, then to pose as a fake heiress to trap Jiang Yi. She finally understands that their friendship was nothing but calculated exploitation.

Jiang Yi storms into Zhang Ya's home demanding to know where Su Xia is. Zhang Ya claims her phone got wet and that Su Xia went to get her hair done. After his men find nothing, a call about his crying child pushes Jiang Yi to threaten Zhang Ya's job, giving her ten seconds to talk — she still refuses.

Jiang Yi fires Zhang Ya on the spot for transferring company assets. Zhang Ya insists she does not know where Su Xia is, but Jiang Yi accuses her of swindling a villa worth ten million. He vows to settle accounts with her if his wife is not found, while Zhang Ya warns him that breaking into her home is illegal.

Jiang Yi orders his assistant to track Su Xia's location. The assistant calls Zhang Ya a menace and hints she is involved. When a phone call fails, Jiang Yi uses his child as leverage to force Zhang Ya to reveal the mother's whereabouts.

Jiang Yi and his men hand out photos of Su Xia to passersby, claiming his wife was taken by her best friend Zhang Ya and calling Zhang Ya an animal. Zhang Ya refuses to back down and vows to see it through. After searching every restaurant on the street, his men still find no trace of Su Xia.

Unable to find Su Xia, Jiang Yi blames Zhang Ya. She fires back, mocking his stupidity and daring him to call reporters to blow things up. As the standoff continues, Zhang Ya's parents show up unexpectedly.

Zhang Ya's parents confront her, demanding to know where Su Xia is. Her father strikes her while her mother accuses her of years of deceit. Zhang Ya insists she is innocent, but her parents threaten to disown her.

Jiang Yi's men trace Su Xia's last location to Zhang Ya's villa. He arrives with his people, convinced Zhang Ya is hiding Su Xia, and orders her taken away.
