I Can See the Countdown

Adrian Sutton is hit by Aubrey Hayes and unexpectedly awakens an ability to see everyone's death countdown. He sees the remaining lifespans of himself and his mother, and senses that Aubrey is about to face a blood calamity.

Adrian Sutton catches his ex-wife Vera Collins with Logan Reed and is humiliated. He sees the golden countdown numbers above their heads again, then realizes he can see the lifespan of all living things and that red numbers signal impending death.

Adrian Sutton discovers he can see the age of inanimate objects at an antique street and buys a jade pendant for thirty yuan. He then identifies a Wanli-era imperial item in a shop, demanding 180,000 yuan and stunning the owner.

Adrian Sutton receives 180,000 yuan and resolves to pay for his mother's treatment while vowing revenge on Vera Collins and Logan Reed. He encounters Aubrey Hayes again on the antique street and sees her remaining lifespan has dropped from over fifty years to near death. He warns her of a blood calamity within ten minutes, but she dismisses him as a con artist.

Adrian Sutton arrives at the ICU to find the hospital moving his mother out to make room for Logan Reed. Logan recognizes him, offers a ten-million donation to have them expelled, and taunts Adrian about the costs. Adrian reveals 180,000 yuan in cash, proving he can pay.

Aubrey Hayes heeds Adrian Sutton's warning and delays her departure. Ten minutes later, she learns a vehicle exploded on the ring expressway—had she left on time, she would not have survived. She finds Adrian's dropped critical-condition notice and rushes to Mingya Hospital to investigate.

At Mingya Hospital, Aubrey Hayes fires the director and the attending physician on the spot, then orders the best care for Adrian Sutton's mother, Sun Xiumei. When Vera Collins mocks her, Aubrey reveals she is the CEO of Hayes Group and declares herself Adrian's fiancée.

Aubrey Hayes declares Adrian Sutton her destined husband and slaps Vera Collins for her insults. Vera demands three million for the divorce, and Aubrey pays on the spot. Adrian rebukes Vera's heartlessness and vows to make them pay it all back.

Adrian learns that Aubrey needs a temporary live-in son-in-law as a shield in the Hayes family inheritance struggle. She pleads with him to pose as her fiancé at her grandfather's birthday banquet, and he agrees to help one last time. While picking a gift, Adrian uses his newly awakened ability to see internal pathways and buys an item the shop owner dismisses as worthless.

The Hayes family gathers at the old mansion to prepare for the patriarch's eightieth birthday, with each branch vying for favor. A woman bursts in with her dying son, begging for help, but the family elders deem the illness too rare and refuse treatment, fearing damage to their medical reputation.

Adrian Sutton treats the dying boy, stabilizing him but warning he can only extend his life by one year. Aubrey Hayes brings Adrian to the family banquet, where Xiao Qi mocks his background, calls him a poor man, and offers one million yuan for him to leave.

Xiao Qi offers Adrian one million yuan to leave, but Aubrey erupts, reminding him that she funds their entire branch and can cut them off. The patriarch arrives, and Aubrey complains about being bullied. The conversation turns to Adrian's claim of saving a dying child, drawing mockery from a veteran doctor.

Xiao Qi and a veteran doctor openly question Adrian's claim of saving a dying patient, calling it a lie. The patriarch worries about Adrian's character, but Aubrey fiercely defends her fiancé and warns everyone to stop the insults. As the family presents their birthday gifts, they pressure Adrian to show what he has brought.

Adrian presents a jade pendant as his birthday gift, only to be ridiculed by Xiao Qi and others. He fires back that their gifts are worthless and reveals a porcelain vase. Meanwhile, Antique Association Chairman Wu Yue learns Adrian saved his grandson and heads to the Hayes family banquet with a lavish gift.

Adrian exposes the birthday gifts from Xiao Qi and others as cheap fakes and reveals his own Qianlong-era snuff bottle worth over two million. Furious, the Hayes patriarch blames Aubrey for defending Adrian, strips her of her CEO title, and threatens to expel her if she refuses to break up with him.

Wu Yue arrives at the banquet to thank the Hayes family for saving his grandson, who fell suddenly ill nearby. Xiao Qi, knowing he did nothing, seizes the chance to claim credit, saying he treated the child when he lagged behind. The family praises him for preserving their reputation.

Wu Yue publicly clarifies that the man who saved his grandson is named Adrian Sutton, not Xiao Qi. Aubrey stands by Adrian and refuses to cut ties with him. Despite the truth, the Hayes patriarch appoints Xiao Qi as acting CEO of Hayes Group for mastering the family's secret acupuncture technique, costing Aubrey her chance to compete for the family leadership.

Wu Yue confronts Xiao Qi for stealing credit for saving his grandson. Xiao Qi argues that Adrian is not a Hayes and lacks medical skill. Wu Yue verifies Adrian's technique through acupoint knowledge, then forces Xiao Qi to apologize publicly, threatening to make him disappear.

Xiao Qi presents a jade ruyi he claims is a late-Qing palace treasure. Wu Yue identifies it as a recent imitation worth only a few thousand. When Xiao Qi also offers a forged Song painting, Wu Yue rebukes the Hayes descendants for trying to fool him. The elder Hayes expels Xiao Qi's branch from the family register.

Wu Yue identifies Aubrey's ivory snuff bottle as a Heshen treasure worth over two million and praises Adrian's judgment. Wu Yue then tests Adrian with a Tang Sancai piece he bought for thirty million. Adrian declares it a fake, saying the flaw lies inside, not on the surface.

As the Hayes family panics over the shattered Tang Sancai, Aubrey stands by Adrian. Adrian reveals a simplified Chinese mark inside the shards, proving it a fake and earning Wu Yue's admiration. Wu Yue names Aubrey the family heir and gifts Adrian a Yangshan villa.

The doctor says Adrian's mother can leave the hospital, and Adrian insists on taking her to a new home despite her worries about the cost. Vera Collins and Logan Reed appear, mock Adrian as Aubrey's mere shield, and hand him a wedding invitation for three days later. Adrian accepts calmly, hinting he will make it unforgettable for them.

Adrian brings his mother to their new home, assures her the money is clean, and promises her a better life. She urges him to find a new partner. Summoned by Wu Yue, Adrian arrives at an auction where Wu Yue is outbid by his old rival Zhang Kui, who adds just ten thousand each time, costing Wu Yue a prized sword.

The auction reaches its finale with three top jadeite rough stones. Adrian examines them and determines that only the third contains a major prize, urging Wu Yue to secure it. When Wu Yue bids on the first stone, Zhang Kui deliberately inflates the price, sparking a fierce bidding war.

Zhang Kui outbids Wu Yue at twenty million for the first stone, then snatches the second at the same price. When he publicly dismisses the third stone as worthless, bidding stalls, allowing Wu Yue to secure it for just seven hundred thousand.

Wu Yue has the third stone cut on the spot, revealing a rare glass-type imperial green jadeite, stunning the crowd. Zhang Kui, who had publicly dismissed it as worthless, is humiliated as everyone realizes Wu Yue's real target was this stone all along.

Zhang Kui's two stones, bought for forty million, are deemed worthless, and Wanbao Group executives demand he compensate the company and face dismissal. Wu Yue thanks Adrian and offers to introduce him to Feng Wudi, the man who truly controls Lin City.

Wu Yue introduces Adrian to Feng Wudi, the man who controls Lin City. Adrian bluntly states that Feng Wudi will die before the end of summer, enraging Feng Junyu. Adrian then reveals Feng Wudi's fatigue, frequent comas, and the hidden fact that he is partially paralyzed, shocking Feng Wudi into listening.

Adrian notices Feng Wudi's jade pendant is draining his lifespan—each year it gains, Feng Wudi loses one. Ignoring Feng Junyu's protests, Adrian smashes the sinister jade. Feng Wudi immediately feels rejuvenated, his paralyzed legs regain strength, and he stands up, hailing Adrian as his savior.

Feng Junyu presses Adrian to diagnose her condition; he says she is irritable, sweaty at night, and out of balance, joking she needs a boyfriend. Adrian asks Feng Wudi to destroy the Chen Group in three days. Feng Wudi then transfers the Nantian Grand Hotel to Adrian, who signs and accepts it.

Adrian Sutton arrives at the Nantian Grand Hotel for Vera Collins and Logan Reed's wedding. They mock him as a delivery driver at the door, but security recognizes Adrian as the hotel's new owner and lets him in. During her speech, Vera singles out her ex-husband Adrian for thanks.

Vera Collins thanks her ex-husband Adrian Sutton for his uselessness during her wedding speech. When Logan Reed's company stock suddenly plummets, Adrian claims it is his wedding gift, but Vera and Logan dismiss the idea as ridiculous.

Logan Reed's warehouse catches fire, destroying all goods and threatening bankruptcy from dozens of breached contracts. Guests suspect Adrian Sutton, but most believe only Feng Wudi has such power. Feng Wudi arrives and declares that the Reeds offended Adrian, and the consequences are worse than offending him.

Feng Wudi publicly declares his support for Adrian Sutton. A stunned Logan Reed kneels and begs Adrian for mercy. Vera Collins tries to reconcile, but Adrian coldly wishes her a happy wedding before ordering them taken away.

Adrian runs into Qinqin, sent by Aubrey to gather information on Feng Wudi's move against the Chen family. Nearby, Feng Jie aggressively pursues Xiaoxiao, who, to shake him off, suddenly announces that Adrian is her fiancé, leaving Feng Jie stunned.

After being rejected by Xiaoxiao, Feng Jie angrily reveals he is Feng Wudi's grandson and threatens Adrian and Xiaoxiao. Xiaoxiao calls Feng Junyu, who recognizes Adrian and scolds Feng Jie, ordering him to call Adrian 'grandfather.'

Feng Junyu forces Feng Jie to hand over his allowance. Adrian discovers his ability can predict stock movements for the next month. He advises Feng Junyu to buy Heilong shares and sell after seven trading days, leaving her skeptical but willing to try.

Feng Junyu asks Adrian to pick up her rebellious younger sister Qinqin from university, saying Qinqin is curious about him. Adrian takes a cab and meets Qinqin and her friend Xiaoxiao. Unimpressed, Qinqin refuses to go home and invites him to karaoke instead.

Qinqin brings Adrian to a karaoke venue and introduces him to her friend Xiaoxiao as her sister's barely-qualifying boyfriend. Learning he arrived by cab and owns no car, Xiaoxiao dismisses him as a broke freeloader. Adrian takes a call from Wu Yue about a three-million consulting fee for an appraisal, but Qinqin accuses him of pretending to be rich to impress her friend.

At the karaoke venue below Tiannan Hotel, Adrian learns Feng Wudi has gifted him the revolving furnace, implying the KTV is now his. A man calling himself Xue Er-ye, a feared local boss, barges in, recognizes Adrian as a VIP, but demands Qinqin and Xiaoxiao drink with him, putting them in a bind.
