The Commander’s Daughter

Evelyn Carter arrives at the military camp with her son Oliver Bennett, seeking her husband Henry Bennett. She tells Deputy Zhou that she is Henry's wife, but he appears unaware, creating an awkward standoff.

Evelyn insists she has been married to Henry for seven years and their son Oliver is already seven, refusing to believe he remarried. Deputy Zhou suggests asking Ms. Barrett, the camp know-it-all. When Evelyn tells Ms. Barrett she is Henry's wife, Ms. Barrett's expression shifts abruptly.

When Evelyn presses Ms. Barrett for information about her husband, Ms. Barrett suddenly strikes her, calling her a homewrecker. Oliver tries to defend his mother and is shoved aside. Amid the chaos, Ms. Barrett declares she is Henry's mother-in-law.

Ms. Barrett incites the crowd to denounce and strike Evelyn, insisting Clarissa is Henry's lawful wife. Evelyn produces seven years of correspondence with Henry, only to have Ms. Barrett tear it up as fake. Desperate, Evelyn then pulls out their marriage certificate.

Ms. Barrett pulls lingerie from Evelyn's bundle and denounces her as immoral, rousing the crowd to beat her. In the chaos Oliver is knocked unconscious, yet Ms. Barrett continues, threatening to ensure Evelyn can never bear children again.

Deputy Zhou arrives to stop the chaos and orders Oliver to be taken to the hospital. Ms. Barrett insists Clarissa is Henry's real wife, and Deputy Zhou confirms Henry's marriage was registered six years ago. As the crowd tries to drive her out, Evelyn desperately reveals she is Commander Carter's daughter.

Deputy Zhou recognizes Evelyn as Commander Carter's daughter, salutes her publicly, and cancels Henry's transfer order. Evelyn declines an immediate reunion with her father, asking to see her son Oliver first and requesting that Deputy Zhou bring her parents to the camp.

Ms. Barrett panics and tells Clarissa that Evelyn has entered the camp with Deputy Zhou's help. Furious, Clarissa storms off to confront her. Meanwhile, Evelyn and her son Oliver lie injured in the hospital, and Commander Carter arrives vowing to punish whoever hurt his daughter.

Clarissa and Ms. Barrett barge into the hospital room, insult Evelyn and Oliver, and claim Clarissa is Henry's lawful wife. Evelyn questions whether Clarissa knew about Henry's previous marriage and reveals that Henry entered the camp only because of her.

Evelyn fires back at Clarissa and Ms. Barrett, insisting Henry entered the camp only through her connections. As Oliver's condition worsens, Evelyn seeks help but learns the only available doctor, Dr. Xu, is being deliberately kept by Clarissa under the pretense of prenatal care. Clarissa declares Oliver must die so that her own unborn child will be Henry's sole heir.

Evelyn brings the critically ill Oliver to Dr. Xu, who determines the boy needs immediate surgery. Clarissa and Ms. Barrett intervene, with Ms. Barrett threatening Dr. Xu with the crime of undermining a military marriage to force him to refuse treatment.

Ms. Barrett keeps pressuring Dr. Xu by citing Henry's bright future and mocking Evelyn as a country nobody. Desperate to save Oliver, Evelyn announces that her father is Commander Carter and promises Dr. Xu will be rewarded if he helps her son.

Evelyn reveals that Deputy Zhou has gone to fetch her father, Commander Carter. Dr. Xu realizes her background is not ordinary and decides to prepare for Oliver's surgery immediately. Ms. Barrett still tries to interfere, but Dr. Xu confirms the boy was indeed sent by Deputy Zhou's men and ignores her obstruction.

Ms. Barrett claims Deputy Zhou helped Evelyn because they are having an affair and calls Oliver a bastard. Evelyn slaps Ms. Barrett, and Clarissa accuses her of madness. Evelyn again begs Dr. Xu to save her son, promising his job and respect. Clarissa threatens to have Henry expel Dr. Xu from the camp.

Ms. Barrett and Clarissa block treatment, insisting Oliver must die. Evelyn fights to protect her son, threatening to take them all down with her. Oliver wakes in his mother's arms, begs to stop searching for a brother and just go home, then falls asleep in pain.

Ms. Barrett blocks the ward door and forbids Evelyn from leaving, claiming she has been in the camp too long and might leak secrets to the enemy. Evelyn insists that as a military family member she must protect camp secrets. A soldier reports to Henry that his wife is causing trouble at the military hospital.

Ms. Barrett blocks Evelyn, accusing her of staying too long and risking military secrets. Clarissa demands to know why another woman has come for Henry, while Ms. Barrett berates him for misconduct. Ignoring the fight, Evelyn begs Henry to find a doctor for their dying son Oliver.

Clarissa feigns stomach pain before Henry, claiming the baby kicked her. Henry listens eagerly and declares the child will be a lively boy. Evelyn witnesses the scene and confronts Henry, asking if he has forgotten their dying son Oliver, but Henry brushes her off.

Seeing Oliver critically ill, Henry accuses Evelyn of cruelty, which she denies. After checking on his son, Henry confronts Ms. Barrett, who admits to pushing the child. Evelyn reveals that Clarissa prevented the doctor from treating Oliver.

Evelyn urges Henry to let Dr. Xu treat Oliver first. Clarissa worries that if Oliver survives, her own unborn child will lose status. Ms. Barrett claims she has a plan to ensure Oliver dies today. Evelyn questions Deputy Zhou about how Henry's marriage application was approved, and he admits his failure to uncover Henry's prior marriage.

Henry openly doubts that Oliver is his biological son and implies Evelyn has been with another man in the camp. Evelyn angrily refutes him, pointing out that he never returned home in seven years yet found time to remarry. Their argument escalates as Henry claims the real father is someone inside the camp.

Clarissa and Ms. Barrett accuse Deputy Zhou of being Oliver's real father, claiming they saw him show special care toward Evelyn. Evelyn counters that Deputy Zhou only respects her father, Commander Carter. Clarissa warns Henry that saving the boy will harm his career and proposes a paternity test.

Clarissa urges a paternity test for Oliver using a newly imported blood-protein detector, requiring only a finger prick. After Henry agrees, Evelyn declares that regardless of the result, Oliver will have nothing more to do with Henry. Ms. Barrett secretly plots to ensure Oliver does not survive.

Evelyn rejects Henry's apology and warns that if Oliver is not safe, her father will not spare him. Ms. Barrett rushes in to report that Clarissa has taken a fall, triggering a pregnancy scare, and urges Henry to summon a doctor immediately.

Dr. Xu operates on Oliver, and Evelyn refuses to let anyone interrupt. Ms. Barrett urges Henry to rush to Clarissa, who faces a dangerous pregnancy complication with a near-term male fetus. Evelyn blocks the door, declaring that removing the doctor will require stepping over her body.

Henry drags Evelyn away from the operating room door, allowing Clarissa to receive priority care. When Evelyn returns, she finds Oliver critically injured. She picks him up and leaves the camp hospital, determined to find help elsewhere.

Evelyn carries the critically injured Oliver away from the hospital. He tells her he wants to go home and buy sugar figurines, then dies in her arms. Far away, Commander Carter feels a sudden pain in his chest, sensing something has happened to his daughter and grandson.

Evelyn bursts in with a gun, demanding Ms. Barrett pay for her son's death and accusing Clarissa of killing Oliver. Henry tries to stop her, insisting the boy is dead and urging her to let go of vengeance.
