The $1,000 Exit

At the Bayview dinner, Reggie works the room of 120 key partners he personally manages, and Rosewell insists he handle a new project. Meanwhile, his assistant Jane posts about her $200,000 bonus. Reggie opens his banking app and finds only $1,000.

Word of Reggie's $1,000 bonus spreads across the table, silencing the room. The clients react with shock and anger, and the dinner ends early. Rosewell is the last to leave, telling Reggie he deserves better and to call if he ever decides to leave.

After seeing off the last guest, Reggie returns to his empty home and, instead of working, calmly creates a handover checklist with only basic client information and no critical details. He contacts a recruiter he added a month earlier and changes his reply from not right now to ready to talk.

Jane shows off her shopping haul, but Reggie barely looks up from his handover document. She buys coffee for the whole office to celebrate the record year; the cheers fill the room, yet no one offers Reggie a drink. Harrington praises everyone's hard work while pointedly ignoring Reggie, then summons him to his office.

Reggie confronts Harrington over his $1,000 bonus while Jane received $200,000. Harrington dismisses Reggie's contributions, claiming the company platform made every deal possible. Reggie fires back that he personally won every client five years ago, but Harrington orders him out of the office.

Back at his desk, Reggie opens an encrypted 50-page document titled Advanced Key Client Relationship Management Manual. It maps out internal politics, decision makers' preferences, and negotiation limits for every client. He backs up the core files to his cloud, then wipes them from his work machine.

Cavendish Group, the biggest client, suffers a major system failure that halts production. After the tech department fails for two hours and Jane cannot answer their questions, Cavendish executives call Harrington with an ultimatum: fix it in two hours or face contract termination and legal action. Harrington begs Reggie to handle it, but Reggie refuses, citing his expiring contract.
