He Found His Daughter Gnawing Bread Beside a Stray Dog

Daniel confronts Rachel about never spending money on Lily and slashes her supplementary card limit. Rachel claims she buys Lily's clothes with her own card, and Daniel briefly accepts her explanation. But a neighbor, Mr. Hayes, casually reveals that Lily's outfits are his daughter's old cast-offs.

Mr. Hayes reveals that Rachel asked for Emma's old clothes for Lily, claiming new ones were a waste. Daniel takes Lily shopping, then returns home to find Martha demanding he put Ethan's name on the house title and insisting the company needs a male heir. Daniel refuses and confronts Rachel about spending thirty thousand a month without a cent on his daughter.

Miss Carter tells Daniel that Lily was accused of stealing a classmate's eraser, and that Rachel dismissed the school's call as mere roughhousing. Lily breaks down, revealing Rachel threatened to send her away if she told. Daniel freezes all supplementary cards and orders Marcus to draft divorce papers.

Daniel tells Marcus how he met Rachel, admitting he has felt she is hiding something since their marriage. Marcus soon calls back with a discovery: Rachel's real name is Claire, and she left her previous marriage not because of abuse, but an extramarital affair.

Marcus reports that Rachel, formerly Claire, fled with her child and gained full custody and assets after her ex-husband's sudden death. She transferred his house to her mother Martha and mortgaged it, revealing serious debt. Ethan bursts in blaming Lily for hurting his mother, and Daniel confronts Rachel, calling her Mrs. Claire.

Daniel tells Rachel that a stranger called his wife a con artist named Claire. Rachel admits Claire was her maiden name, changed to escape her abusive ex-husband. Daniel sees through the act and decides to play along.

Martha brags about Rachel's generous allowance and pushes Daniel to fund a $4,000 coding camp for Ethan while dismissing Lily as too young. Daniel confronts the double standard, declares both kids go to camp or Rachel's family pays for Ethan themselves, and walks out with Lily.
