Jasper tries to give a destitute woman a pastry, but his fiancée Daisy rages and demands he drive her away. Disgusted by Daisy’s contempt for the weak, Jasper breaks off the engagement. He then apologizes to the woman and offers cash, but she asks only for a single freshly made hamburger.

Sage claims to be a culinary legend, but Jasper remains skeptical. His mother Elena urges him to reconcile with Daisy to save the restaurant, yet Jasper instead asks Sage to marry him.

Jasper asks Sage to pose as his wealthy fiancée and return home with him, paying her five hundred dollars a day to stall his family's marriage pressure. Sage agrees, using the time to take his measure.

Jasper warns Sage to keep her distance or lose the fake fiancée role. He has her prepare expensive gifts and fabricate a wealthy background for his family. Sage questions his lies, and Jasper admits he needs the investment to save the family restaurant.

Jasper tells his parents he has broken off his engagement to Daisy and intends to marry Sage that very day. His mother Elena fears losing the family's investment, but Jasper stands firm. Sage introduces herself using the fabricated wealthy background, calming the situation for the moment.

Mia claims she saw Sage leaving a rundown inn and questions her wealthy background. Jasper improvises a story about private island hotels, and Sage names the legendary Home brand as her family's company. Mia points out that Home was founded by a culinary legend, accuses Sage of impersonation, and demands the truth from Jasper.

Jasper admits the hotel story was a joke, but Mia presses harder, accusing him of hiring a fake bride. Elena demands the truth, and Mia points out the couple's lack of intimacy. Sage feeds Jasper a sweet and kisses him in front of everyone, silencing the doubts.

Silas arrives with Leo, the senator's son, and demands that the restaurant feed the famously picky eater using a secret sauce. If they fail, he will use his connections to close the business. The family realizes this is revenge for Jasper leaving Daisy, until Sage steps forward to stop him.

Sage promises to cook a dish that Leo will enjoy and makes Silas agree not to touch anyone or anything in the restaurant until then. When she serves the food, Leo eats a bite for the first time, shocking everyone. After tasting the sauce herself, Sage admits the dish still falls short of its potential.
