The Mafia Boss Hears My Sins

Derek returns from a trip to his wife Colleen's attentive care. While she plays the perfect spouse, her inner thoughts obsess over his physique and complain that he hasn't touched her in six months. Derek is stunned to realize he can hear her unspoken thoughts.

Colleen plays the cultured socialite while her inner thoughts rage about French documents and her untouched marriage, even fantasizing about sneaking into Derek's room. Unable to bear her mental chatter, Derek calls an emergency video conference with all district bosses to drown her out. After the meeting ruins her sleep, Colleen spikes his coffee with triple espresso as payback, but Derek insists she take the first sip.

Colleen rejoices as Derek leaves, already planning a wild afternoon at a Soho club with Tessa and Italian male models. Derek suddenly returns with a demand that she cook him a homemade lunch and deliver it to his office, crushing her plans. She agrees gracefully while cursing him in her thoughts.

Colleen vents to Tessa that Derek forced her to make lunch, ruining her club plans, and reveals the real Colleen will be in a coma for at least three more months. Derek confronts Donnie about five million missing from the family accounts. Donnie denies any theft and invokes mafia rules. Colleen arrives with lunch, interrupting the standoff.

Colleen mutters in the lounge that Donnie bought a penthouse for his mistress in Red Hook using an offshore shell company called Blue Ocean. Derek overhears and orders Marco to verify. Donnie is dragged out for family punishment and the missing funds are to be recovered. Derek then decides to take Colleen out for their six-month anniversary, but he has something else in mind.

Derek books the private section at Kat's Dairy and takes Colleen for street burgers. Colleen abandons her knife and fork, grabbing the burger with both hands and declaring it better than French food. A call from Marco warns that Vera has discovered they sleep in separate rooms and is waiting at the apartment, furious.

Vera discovers Derek and Colleen sleep in separate rooms and erupts in fury. She orders them to share the master bedroom starting that night and threatens to move in and supervise if there is no pregnancy news by next month. Derek concedes and tells Colleen to get ready, while she secretly thrills at the prospect of finally getting close to him.

Derek approaches Colleen, tells her not to be nervous, and calls it a duty. She notices his actions and words match her inner thoughts exactly. To test him, she silently commands him to touch her left eyebrow. When he does, she realizes he can truly hear her mind.

Derek uses his mind reading to anticipate Colleen's every desire, making her believe they are soulmates. Afterward, he reflects that he enjoyed it too, which was never part of his plan. He worries whether Colleen would still think they are soulmates if she ever learns he can hear all her thoughts.

Colleen wakes in Derek's arms and flees in embarrassment, inwardly complaining that he has only cuddled her to sleep for three nights. Later, Tessa notices Derek is unusually relaxed and teases that the iceberg of the Morelli family is catching feelings, which he dismisses as business.
