### Chapter 2: "Unspoken Ties"
The massive entrance gate of the company swings open, allowing a sleek Rolls Royce to glide into the premises. With impeccable style, a tall and strikingly handsome man, adorned in a sophisticated black three-piece suit, gracefully emerges from the driver's seat. He confidently strides towards the private elevator at the heart of the building, swiftly pressing the button for the top floor.
As the elevator doors slide open, he steps out into a hushed atmosphere, drawing the attention of all the employees present. The collective chatter dissipates into respectful silence as the man, identified as their boss, acknowledges the morning greetings with a subtle nod. Unfazed, he proceeds towards his corner office.
Upon entering, he exudes an air of authority, unbuttoning his tailored blazer and settling into the expanse of his plush chair. His phone, takes a prominent place on the sleek desk before him which was adorned with a prominent nameplate proclaiming "CEO Mr. Viyansh Singhania,". The room resonates with a sense of purpose as the CEO begins his day at the pinnacle of the corporate hierarchy.
Viyansh's POV,
Upon stepping into my office, my secretary promptly arrived, armed with a stack of files and a comprehensive rundown of the day's meetings. Admittedly, the workload is substantial, but given my workaholic tendencies, it doesn't faze me much. Interestingly, I find solace in the busyness of my professional life, perhaps as a deliberate strategy to keep myself distanced from home.
Now, let me share the underlying reason. The reason I keep myself so busy with work is actually quite simple. I haven't explicitly mentioned it yet. To put it plainly, I intentionally engage in the demanding hustle of my career to create a deliberate separation from my home life.
The reason behind my constant dedication to work is actually connected to my newly wedded wife. And before anything else, let me make one thing clear, it's not because I hate her or hold any resentment towards her. The situation is much more complicated than that. This marriage happened because my father strongly insisted on it, saying that it was his wish and something he deeply wanted for me.
Nine years ago, I lost my mother in a tragic accident, and after her death, my father changed a lot. Over time, his wish for me to get married became more important to him, and because of his continuous insistence and emotional pressure, I eventually agreed to this marriage.
Surprisingly, I don't regret this decision at all. My wife is genuinely kind and caring, and it shows in the way she takes care of everyone in my family without expecting anything in return. Her warmth and selfless nature have slowly earned the love of everyone around her, including my siblings and my father.
Vihaan, especially, shares a close bond with her because they have known each other since their college days. He treats her like his own sister. As for Viraj and Virat, they lovingly call her "Bhabhi maa," which says a lot about how attached they are to her.
But the most emotional part of all this is probably my father's bond with her. My parents had always wished for a daughter, but instead, they were blessed with four sons. And now, my father sees in her the daughter he and my mother always longed for but never had.
It has been two weeks since our marriage, and in all this time, we have only had one proper conversation, that too on our wedding night. Sadly, during that short conversation, I said something that I now regret deeply.
I told her not to expect much from this marriage because I didn't think I would ever be able to fulfill her expectations as a husband. At that moment, I thought I was simply being honest and trying to make things clear from the beginning. But the second I saw her eyes filling with tears, filled with pain, confusion, and countless unasked questions, guilt settled heavily in my heart.
Before she could say anything or ask me the reason behind my words, I hurriedly walked out of the room, leaving behind an uncomfortable silence and a painful distance between us.
The very next day, she accidentally overheard me having a heated argument on the phone. And strangely, after that moment, she almost completely stopped talking in front of me. Whenever I came near her, I could see fear in her eyes, and sometimes her hands would even tremble slightly.
What confused me the most was that I had never shouted at her or shown my anger towards her directly, yet she always looked scared in my presence. I couldn't understand the reason behind her fear, and that unanswered question kept bothering me.
The silence and distance between us slowly became harder to ignore. Our relationship felt strange and unfamiliar, filled with unspoken emotions and unanswered questions, leaving me constantly wondering what was really going on in her mind.
Since that night, a deep silence had settled between us. I could barely remember the sound of her voice anymore, and instead of sleeping on the bed, she quietly chose the couch every night. The distance between us became painfully obvious, yet neither of us spoke about it.
But after a couple of days, something in her behavior slowly began to change. She still didn't talk to me, not even a single word, yet her actions started speaking in ways her voice never could. No matter how late I returned home, I would always find her waiting for me at the dining table during dinner. I tried many times to tell her not to wait for me, especially when work kept me late, but she never listened. Silently and stubbornly, she continued waiting for me every single night.
Because of the values my mother had taught me since childhood, especially about respecting women and never taking their efforts for granted, I eventually started making a conscious effort to return home by 9 PM.
Even though we still didn't communicate verbally, she quietly took care of me in every possible way. Every morning, my tea would already be prepared before I woke up, and she made sure I never skipped lunch by sending it to my office through the driver. Without speaking a word, she slowly became a part of my daily life in ways I never expected.
These small but meaningful gestures slowly started filling me with guilt. Every little thing she did for me made me realize how sweet, caring, and genuinely kind she was. And the more I noticed her efforts, the more I became aware of how cold and distant my own behavior had been towards her.
Still, despite everything, there is a promise I made long ago, a promise I cannot break. Because of that promise, I have stopped myself from fully accepting her as my wife, no matter how much my heart seems to be drifting towards her.
Thinking about all of this only makes the conflict inside me stronger. But for now, I push these thoughts aside and focus on the responsibilities waiting for me. Work has always been my escape, and once again, I decide to bury myself in it, temporarily ignoring the complications of my personal life.
...............................
A grand mansion, painted in a pristine white hue, unfolds before you. Upon entering, the interior boasts a contemporary aesthetic, blending the clean elegance of white with subtle accents of grey. The modern infrastructure seamlessly weaves together a sophisticated ambiance.
Within the confines of the mansion's modular kitchen, a young woman in her twenties takes command. Dressed in a flowing peach Anarkali dress, her hair casually gathered in a messy bun, she orchestrates the household affairs. With hands immersed in flour, she issues orders to the attentive servants. This dynamic figure, none other than Mrs. Vaidehi Viyansh Singhania, is the sole force behind transforming this vast mansion into a warm and welcoming home. Her presence infuses life and vitality into the expansive living space, turning it into a haven of comfort and familial warmth.
Vaidehi's POV,
Engaged in the kitchen, I find myself immersed in the daily task of preparing lunch for my family.
Oh, I'm so sorry, I never properly introduced myself. My name is Mrs. Vaidehi Viyansh Singhania... at least that's what my name says. Because according to him, according to the words he spoke on our wedding night, I am only the daughter-in-law of the Singhania family, not his wife. And somehow, that difference means a lot to him.
My life has never really been filled with happiness. In fact, if I'm being honest, I've spent most of my life surrounded by sadness and silence rather than joy. Happiness was always temporary for me, while pain stayed constant.
So when Dadu brought the proposal of marrying Viyansh in front of me, I agreed without taking much time to think. There were mainly two reasons behind my decision. The first was the hope of finally having a family of my own, something I had secretly longed for all my life. And honestly, the thought of having someone like Vihaan Bhai as my brother made the idea even more comforting.
The second reason was something I still don't fully know how to explain. The moment I saw Viyansh's picture for the first time, I felt something strange inside my heart. It was sudden, unexpected, and impossible to ignore. Maybe people would call it love at first sight... and perhaps that's exactly what it was.
So, I stepped into this marriage not only because I wanted a family, but also because of that strange and unspoken connection I felt the moment I saw his picture. But everything changed when I heard him raise his voice in anger. The sound instantly reminded me of someone from my past. No, not an ex-boyfriend, because I never had one... but someone else. Someone I never even want to think about. Him... in every possible way.
Two days later, Vihaan Bhai, my brother-in-law, and Papa, my father-in-law, came to talk to me. They had clearly noticed the distance and silence between me and Viyansh. Both of them gently asked me to give this marriage a fair chance and not let fear ruin it before it could even begin.
Even after their words, my fear didn't disappear. Every time I thought about talking to him, nervousness took over me. Still, somewhere in my heart, I decided that I would try.
That night, just like every other night, I waited for him so we could have dinner together. After making sure he had eaten properly, we went back to our room, or rather, our shared space. He slept on the bed while I quietly settled myself on the couch. It wasn't an ideal situation at all, but over the last two weeks, this uncomfortable routine had slowly become normal for me.
Even though I never expected to receive his love, I still found comfort in one thing, I finally had a family I could call my own. Despite the awkward beginning and the distance between us, his family accepted me with so much warmth and love that it slowly started healing parts of me I didn't even realize were broken.
But no matter how much I tried to ignore it, one wish still remained hidden deep inside my heart, the desire for his love. I wanted his affection, his attention, and those small beautiful moments that make a relationship feel special. Somewhere inside me, I dreamed of experiencing the kind of love I had only seen in K-dramas, soft moments, caring gestures, silent understanding, and a love that feels warm and comforting.
Yes, the reality of our marriage was far from perfect and honestly quite uncomfortable at times, but even then, I held onto hope. A small part of me believed that maybe, with time, the distance between us would lessen and our relationship would slowly turn into the kind of bond filled with love, warmth, and togetherness that I secretly longed for.
I know I'm not very good at understanding things quickly, at least that's what Vihaan Bhai always says about me. He keeps telling me to try and understand Viyansh better, and honestly, I truly want to give this relationship a fair chance. That's why I'm trying in every way I can.
I wait for him every night at dinner, prepare his tea in the morning, and despite being naturally clumsy and awkward, I try my best to act normal around him. Talking to him is not easy for me at all. The moment our eyes meet, all my confidence disappears, and I completely lose track of what I want to say.
As far as I know, he never had a girlfriend before me, so it's not like there's someone else in his life. Yet, even then, it feels like something is stopping him from accepting this relationship wholeheartedly. Something unknown is holding him back, and no matter how much I think about it, I cannot understand what it is.
But today, I've finally decided that I will talk to him properly. I just hope I don't lose my courage the second I look into his intense and strangely captivating eyes. If I'm putting effort into this relationship, then I think he should also take at least one step towards me and towards building a connection between us.
The thought of this conversation is making me both nervous and determined at the same time, but somewhere deep inside, I know it's finally time to reduce the distance between us.
